This game was made during a GBCJam hosted at George Brown College’s Casa Loma campus.  The theme was “Harvest.”

My main role in programming this game was creating the endless space to explore.  To achieve the effect of endless space I added new asteroids ahead of the player’s ship and removed the old ones behind the ship.  Since the player can rotate their ship and head in any direction I used a large collider around the ship to detect which asteroids to remove and I use the player’s previous position to determine the direction the player is heading.

When adding new asteroids into the scene I lerped the new asteroid into existence (from very tiny to regular size), the effect is really interesting.  An endless space is pretty cool. 🙂
